Fish shaped Cookies wrappt in shiny Plasic
Oil on canvas, 100x50 cm, 10.2025
One day, following my sister’s recommendation, I wanted to visit an Asian supermarket. From the outside, it appeared inconspicuous, tucked between a lifeless grey building on one side and the cold glow of a gas station on the other. I stepped in without expectations.
Inside, I was suddenly surrounded by an overwhelming variety of color and products. In front of me, vibrant stacks of instant ramen piled to the ceiling, countless bottles of soy sauce I could never choose from, and seaweed snacks in flavors I had never even heard of. I was overwhelmed, almost swallowed by it all.
In the middle of it, I forgot why I had come, or what I wanted in the first place. I left with a random assortment of groceries: BBQ-flavored seaweed snacks, mushrooms I had never seen before, and a strawberry cookie shaped like a fish. 🍓🐟

Vending Machine Moment
Oil on canvas, 50x60 cm, 08.2025
It is often in a fleeting moment that we no longer recognize what has drawn us in. And yet, we allow ourselves to be guided by the outside world. As if on autopilot, moving without questioning.

Kiosk
Oil on canvas, 100x120 cm, 08.2025
There we are, standing in a Kiosk in front of a shelf filled with brightly colored packaging, ready to tear it open and consume it. But how did this desire arise in the first place? What tempted us? Questions I explored and observed during the creation of this painting.

Exit
Oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm, 06.2025
In Exit, I wanted to explore the idea that a strong mindset can help us resist temptation. In moments of everyday stress, we often find ourselves distracted and seeking quick relief or chasing instant gratification. This painting serves as a quiet reminder to pause, reflect, and overcome those impulsive urges.

Obey
Oil on canvas, 60x70 cm, 07.2025
This painting reflects the contradictions within our society. On one hand, we’re expected to be slim and health-conscious and on the other, we’re constantly bombarded by advertising that encourages us to consume junk food and sweets. This tension often leads to confusion and a sense of overwhelm.

Oil on canvas, 80x100 cm, 06.2025
Every day, we’re surrounded by things we don’t really need. But somehow, they shape how we live. I wanted to capture that in this painting. How consumption influences our lives, often without us noticing. Art gives us a moment to stop and think: what is it that really matters?

Cold and Juicy
Oil on canvas, 80x100 cm, 02.2025
This painting is inspired by the ordinary beauty of everyday life and by the vibrant, structured chaos found in supermarket shelves. I’m fascinated by how mass-produced objects, like juice bottles, create accidental compositions of color, shape, and repetition.
It’s a reflection on consumer culture, choice overload, and the strangely intimate relationship we have with packaging and branding. By translating this common scene into oil on canvas, I aim to elevate the mundane into something worth pausing for. A still life of modern life.

Heng Long captures the vibrant atmosphere of an Asian market in Cologne, a personal place of inspiration. The painting reflects the contrast between mass-produced goods and fresh produce, showcasing the visual overload of modern consumer culture. It’s a tribute to everyday abundance and the multicultural fabric of urban life.
